What is wrong with our society when our youth will use cliff notes for “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” but not a single one of them can resist reading a book about a vampire who falls in love with a teenager. Wow. Was Buffy really that long ago?
They are calling this the new Harry Potter. If it is, where are all the book burnings and the library fights? Where are the concerned mothers and papal declarations? not only does it glorify vampirism and paint infatuation as love, but the story sanctions pedophilia. That vampire guy is 108 years old. What the hell is he doing hitting on high school girls?
This book has made me take a second look at those nutjobs who never stop screaming about the rapture.

He doesn’t want her to become a vampire. He values her life, and wants her to grow old and gray and die from old age. A chance that he would never have. He values life. He never wanted to change her into a vampire, she wants it so she can spend eternity with the man she loves.
It didn’t seem like that big of a deal with queen of the damned came out. And that is pretty much the same story.

Wanna know something scary? Most of my high school’s English department is female and they think Twilight is a literary masterpiece. Well, there are two who don’t (three if you count the guy), but they actually have LIVES.
And YES, I am a teenager who hates Twilight. Shocking, isn’t it?
Plus, Edward disturbs me. Same with Bella. And Jacob’s not much better, creepy boarderline rapist.
